LET'S STOP HYPOCRISY IN THE USAGE OF THE LAW AND BE FAIR - IMAM URGES POLICE, POLITICIANS.
Rule of law they say provides for everyone to be equal before the laws of Ghana, irrespective of a class, gender, political background etc. That's everyone is supposed to be dealt drastically with whenever he/she goes contrary to the law.
But the most saddest part of this same provision is that the law at times deal with the less privileged ones whilst the rest such as politicians in power etc are left untouched even when they are found guilty after committing offence.
The typical one is how Kennedy Agyapong, the M.P for Assin Central (In the name of NPP) was arrested during the NDC's era and the latest one was the 'Rambo style' arrest made on Hon.Collins Dauda, M.Pfor Ahafo Ano South (In the name of NDC).
It's against this background the Chief Imam for Allabar Mosque, Mallam Ibrahim Lamin has come out advising stakeholders such as the police, judges, politicians etc to desist from the hypocritical ways of using the law irrespective of whom the defaulter may be.
We are in a country where a party in power's member will commit a worst offence and be left scot free whilst the less privilege one who is not a member of that particular party in power will be penalized severely after committing an offence, even meagre", he said.
He therefore advised that it's high time we stopped those discrimination in the law and practice it fairly according to the rule of law.
He said citizens become hopeless whenever they see authorities manipulating the law.
In addition to that the Imam continued by condemning the Rambo stylish and the multitudinously ways of arresting political gurus who are not in power. He sighted the current Collins Dauda's situation as an example, saying such a practice is an unfortunate.
