The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah yesterday the 17th September, visited the various basic schools within the Municipality to welcome children who for the first time introduced to formal Education.
The exercise which was conducted in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate headed by the Municipal Education Director Mrs Sowah, saw children excited to be in school. The teachers and children were excited to see the Mothers of the land so far as Governance and Education are concerned.
The Hon MCE interacting with the children, welcomed them to school and advised them to cultivate the habit of punctuality and interest for school for "the step taken today is the first step to your success in life". Testing the IQ of these little ones, the Hon MCE was surprised to hear some of the first time students giving the full name of the President of the Republic His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, and so presented learning materials as awards for them.
She presented uniforms, biscuits and drinks to the children to motivate them to have utmost interest for Education and for that matter consider School as the best place to be.
The Hon MCE pleaded with the teachers to adopt all their skills and knowledge and with their experiences and professionalism help these little ones enjoy their stay whiles in school. She thanked them for the good work they are doing for God and country and that the Government is doing everything possible to reward teachers here on this Earth before receiving the noble one in heaven as "teachers reward is in heaven".
