SUHUM NPP PRIMARIES: WHO CONTESTS HON FREDRICK OPARE ANSAH

SUHUM NPP PRIMARIES: WHO CONTESTS HON FREDERICK OPARE ANSAH

Five(5) Executives from each of the One Hundred and Twenty Nine (129) polling stations. Twenty Nine(29) Electoral Area Coordinators. Seventeen (17) Constituency Executives both elected and appointed. Five(5) Council of Elders and five(5) Council of Patrons. One(1) Hon Member of Parliament and one(1) Hon Municipal Chief Executive. In total there would be seven hundred and three (703) delegates to cast their votes should there be no discrepancies in the Constituency voters register.

As it stands now, the incumbent Member of Parliament, Hon Frederick Opare Ansah has declared his intention to contest for the next Parliamentary Primaries in Suhum Constituency. Considering today Friday 21st September is the dead line for submission of forms, Hon Frederick Opare Ansah is declared unopposed. The only thing Suhum Constituency npp delegates would have to do is voting YES or NO.

In fact delegates at this juncture would prefer staying at home rather than come from far and near to vote for either a Personality or voting for a "NO" knowing very well that the outcome is not going to change anything and be given ten Ghana cedis GH¢10 as t&t. Let's assume the above should be the case. Circulation by the Research Officer suggests that the YES already has four hundred and fifty(450) delegates representing 64.01% are in it's basket. Of course incumbency is an advantage.

The assumption made by the research officer suggests that two hundred and fifty three (253) delegates representing 35.99% already have lost hope even when no one contests the incumbent. I know what you are thinking. If an insignificant 5% voting "NO" in a Presidential Primaries can cause the embarrassing defeat of an incumbent President in a general elections, your guess is as good as mine.

A little research conducted which credit goes to the Constituency Secretary and the Municipal Director of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Mr Ernest Lartey, Suhum has maintained a posture of good standing for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) since 2000. In his address to delegates which he power pointed his report during the delegates Congress admitted that unfortunately certain unfortunate circumstances are consistently widening the gap between the Presidential Candidate and the Member of Parliament since 2008 and even saw a thread miss of lost of an incumbent Member of Parliament in 2012 general election with only three hundred and eighty four (384) votes margin.

Npp is not prepared to share power with any political party in Suhum when the New Patriotic Party is in Government. Suhum npp is yet to know who contests Hon Frederick Opare Ansah in the Parliamentary Primaries come next year. It would rather be suicidal to have no contest when we assume that the research officer is not dreaming.

If "NO" which has no message, no campaign team and does not exist has been able to pull 35.99% it is undoubtedly that a known personality with even only the message of CHANGE would manage an incursion let alone bringing on board the message "for", "of", "with" and "to" the people of Suhum Constituency. Delegates at least would bear with us that competition is good. Hope Delegates I have spoken your minds?
