The member of Parliament for Akuapem South Constituency, who is also the Minister of State at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah has been caught on tape raining insults on his Constituency Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Michael Ahwireng.

HON O.B.AMOAH

The New Patriotic Party in the Akuapem South Constituency in recent days is experiencing sharp division in it's leadership. Members of the party are attributing this division to what they call "divide and rule" system of their MP.

It is believed that, the leaked tape was a mobile phone conversation between the MP and a member of the party prior to the party's Constituency Executive Elections in 2022.

The MP is heard in the tape saying, he will not support party activities again if Mr. Michael Ahwireng retains his seat as the Constituency Chairman.

Some members of the party who are unhappy about the MP's decision says, Hon. OB Amoah has refused to support the party after his Aid, one Eric Appeadu Yeboah whom he supported lost the Chairmanship race to Mr. Michael Ahwireng.

"He does not support grassroot activities anymore and this is affecting membership drive", they said.

The reputable lawmaker's voice is clearly heard in the audio using abusive languages on the Constituency Chairman, the 1st Vice Chairman Mr. Bampo and some Constituency Executives which according to members of the party, it is an indication of bringing the NPP Party's name into disrepute.

In the same audio, the MP disclosed that he will give one Mr. Oduro Anim Prince who was the Constituency 1st Vice Chairman at the time of this conversation GHc 5,000.00 to step down from the contest. This was to pave way for his preferred candidate, one Mr. Frank Bredu to win the election.

"All these intentional actions of the MP has brought a drought on his popularity and think he cannot break the 8 in the Constituency. This would be a serious threat to the party’s numerical strength in Parliament come 2024", they added.

These are reasons why some members and delegates of the party in the Constituency nearly staged a walk in Aburi township few weeks ago to present a petition to draw the attention of the party leadership to do something drastic about this with the needed exigencies.

The concerned members believe this infamous audio is a bad signal to all the members of the party and therefore urge the party leadership, from the Constituency, Regional and National level to investigate this case among others being alleged so they can have a blueprint report which is going to restore yet another hope in members.
