E/R -SUHUM: MCE HANDS OVER THREE SCHOOL BUILDINGS TO THREE COMMUNITIES





     Within her less than two years old in office, the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Margaret Darko Darkwah on the last day in November in 2018, commissioned three separate classroom buildings to Okanta, Suhum Abisim and Amenhyia communities all in the Suhum Municipality.

      Records gathered indicate that in the history of Suhum District Assembly now Municipal Assembly has never embarked on such projects solely funded with the Assembly's Internally Generated Fund (IGF). This has put the Hon MCE in the lead of administrative management and service to the people.

     Okanta and Suhum Abisim benefited from a six unit classroom block with an office, staff common room, urinal and toilet which would serve the primary schools in the respective communities. Amenhyia benefited from a magnificent three unit classroom JHS block with an office, staff common room, urinal and toilet facility.

     The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs Quaye Sowah who received the three edifices on behalf of Ghana Education Service to the communities, commended the representative of the President (MCE) for her love for education thereby making education her priority since she came into office. According to Mrs Sowah, she is aware of other educational projects which are at various stages of completion which would be commissioned in no time to reduce the educational facility deficit in the Municipality. She assured the Hon MCE that her outfit will make sure that the facilities would be put into its intended use. She now cautioned teachers of the respective communities and schools that they now don't have any excuse to do the right thing as GES expects from them.

      The constituency NPP Chairman Mr Frederick Ofosu who brought along all the constituency executives to witness and communicate accordingly the good works by the NPP government, told those present that it's time Ghanaians differentiate between a good Governance from the bad ones. He told the scenario of the bad driver who left the broken vehicle on the road and when a better driver trying to fix the car and get the passengers to their destination, the bad driver sits on the fence and rather complain. He told those present that his Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has never made a mistake in selecting his appointees of which Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwah has delivered to expectation and as the Constituency Chairman of the ruling party, he is proud of her.

     The Member of Parliament for Suhum Constituency, Hon Frederick Opare Ansah did not mince words in supporting his Chairman. According to him this is his first time in his Fourteen years as a Member of Parliament for the Constituency witnessing the commissioning of a school project and promised to provide desks to support his Hon MCE.





     The Hon MCE in her address commended the contractors for their good job for considering the NPP slogan "value for money". She also commended the *Suhum Development Agenda group* for their monitoring to ensure that contractors work on time and providing her with updated reports periodically. She pleaded with the community and the students to consider the facility as theirs and cultivate the culture of maintenance to increase the life span of the facilities. According to her, the NPP Government is bent on providing assess to education for all irrespective of their political, religious and ethnic background. "It is for this reason that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo has given free shs to the Senior High School level." The mce stated.

      The Hon MCE again pleaded with the Educational Director, Mrs Quaye Sowah to strengthen the supervision spirit in our schools especially in the rural areas for among these little ones are our future leaders.

     The Chiefs in these three communities expressed their appreciation to His Excellency the President and the Hon MCE for considering them in the sharing of the national cake. They promised to take advantage of the facilities to encourage their little ones to go to school.


     In attendance include: The Assembly's works engineers, finance officers of the assembly, Assembly members, the leaders of the local council of churches, members of the Suhum development agenda, representatives of the Municipal Chief Imam and staffs of the Municipal Assembly.
