The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Margaret Darko Darkwa has thrown her weight solidly in support of Government's effort to provide education for all irrespective of status (rich or poor) hence charges parents in her jurisdiction to take advantage of the free shs.
The Hon MCE on a working visit to farmers and farming entrepreneurs took the opportunity to justify Government's intentions of implementing the Free SHS policy. According to her, the free senior high school program has come to eradicate the canker of illiteracy which retards the human resource development. She entreated the farmers not to invest solely on their farming business but invest in their children Education by taking due advantage of the Free SHS Program implemented by the NPP Government.
The Hon MCE made this passionate appeal upon seeing children of some farmers opting for apprenticeship in various vocations after completing JHS rather than continuing to the SHS level. She educated both parents and children the need to take advantage of the Free SHS program.
In an exclusive interview with the Hon MCE, she disclosed her intentions of implementing a project in her Municipality dubbed "SHS, MY LEAST EDUCATIONAL LEVEL".This she said she will lase with the Municipal Education Directorate to ensure every child in the Municipality is not left behind so far as Secondary Education remains free for all under NPP Government. She also assured that the Assembly has packages to support brilliant but needy students to further their Education to the tertiary level and that the Assembly will consider widening the scope to assist more children in the Municipality.
