The Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for year 2020 has just begun today 14th September throughout the country with hundreds of thousands candidates taking part in their first time external examination from the West African Examination Council (WAEC).

The Municipal Chief Executive for Suhum, Hon Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwa has assured the almost two thousand BECE candidates writing their first time ever external Examination of benefiting from the three year old Free SHS implemented by the Government in 2017. "The Government is prepared to receive you into the various SHS after here. Yours is to do your part by passing, and ours is to give you accessible, equal opportunity and quality secondary education". The MCE assured.

The Hon MCE was distributing two thousand mathematical sets on behalf of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, the President of the Republic to the one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight BECE candidates across the five centers within the Municipality.

According to her their seniors who sat for same exams three years ago were the first beneficiaries of Free SHS and now they just completed SHS. The Hon MCE said if nothing changes and His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo continues to head as president of Ghana, they will be referred to as the forth beneficiaries of the Free SHS.

Hon Mrs Margaret Darko entreated the students to write this examination without fear and intimidation. According to her they should cooperate with their teachers for they are in the exams room to make sure they do the right thing. She concluded by advising them not to indulge in any form of examination malpractice which will jeopardize their future when they are caught.

Suhum Municipal presented one thousand nine hundred and ninety eight candidates converging at five separate centers to be examined externally for the first time.

The Hon MCE was accompanied by the Municipal education Directorate led by Mrs Esther Quaye Sowah, the Municipal Director of Education.
