THE HYPOCRISY OF NANA BOAKYE  AND HIS NPP IS NAUSEATING – YOUTH FOR AKAMBA

Our attention has been drawn to a statement purportedly issued by Nana Boakye, the Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) condemning Ex-President Mahama and Captain Joshua Akamba for some innocuous comments they made in Tempane SHS on the problems-riddled Free SHS policy. Whilst we would not have ordinarily responded to such effusions from the camp of the confused NPP and its government, it is important that we set the records straight and point out the inconsistencies and hypocrisy of the NPP when it comes to the national discourse.

Firstly, it is important for Nana Boakye and his government to know that they have failed the good people of Ghana. This is not the Ghana we were promised; we were not promised a Free SHS policy run on a shift system with students studying under trees; we were not promised a family and friends, girlfriends, and baby mamas government headed by an emperor; we were not promised a failing economy which has seen thousands of jobs lost, companies collapsing in droves, and banks folding up in an unprecedented scale. As a result of their monumental failure and the unbridled corruption, Ghanaians are yearning for the come-back of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) just 21 months after a change of government!

Nana Boakye and his party must understand that President Mahama and Captain Joshua Akamba, like any Ghanaian, reserve the right as citizens of the nation to constructively criticize the policies of the NPP government with a view to helping move the nation’s development agenda forward. And they do not need the permission of the NPP to do so – they will continue to do so unhindered!

Secondly, it does not lie in the hands of the NPP to direct President Mahama, Captain Akamba or any member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for that matter, on what to say when they hit the campaign platform. We were witnesses to the jaundiced criticisms leveled against the NDC government by the discredited and highly dishonest Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia. And no one condemned him for spewing out half-truths and utter lies. Interestingly, when he was given the power to govern the good people of Ghana, we have all seen his super incompetence.

If we may ask – who gave Bawumia permission during the 2016 campaign season to go around basic schools around the country taking photos with kids lying on the ground studying and circulating same for cheap political capital? This shameless bunch of corrupt-minded people will now want to lecture us on which aspect of their failing government to criticize?

It would do Nana Boakye and his nation-wreckers party a lot of good if they focused their attention and energy on salvaging the failing economy and sparing Ghanaians the hardships they are currently experiencing. Ghanaians are suffering, poverty is back with a vengeance; unemployment is plaguing us and armed robbery which had been largely curtailed during the NDC government is on the rise again and people are being shot and killed in broad daylight under the noses of the police. It is these that the NPP should focus their energy on. As it is now, the NPP government in a spate of 21 months is making the NDC seem a party of angels. The NPP has failed abysmally in rolling out their own policies they promised Ghanaians. And even policies like the Free SHS that they have been able to roll out are fraught with unimaginable problems, thanks to Akuffu Addo’s lack of planning and foresight.

Nana Boakye and his NPP should rest assured that we are just beginning – the criticisms have not even started because we wanted them to enjoy their honeymoon. But now they have abused our goodwill, and we will sing their failings and let Ghanaians know the difference between bad governance and a good one.
