The Suhum Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwa yesterday, 17th April, 2019 led the Assembly on behalf of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo to disburse items and money to support disabilities in her Municipality as part of effort being made by Government to better the lives of People Living With Disabilities (PLWD).
In her address, the Hon MCE assured the disables present that "as I continue to be the Municipal Chief Executive of Suhum, your funds shall never be diverted into wrong Hands and that honesty and truthfulness shall be a paramount guide in the mode of disbursement."
Speaking with passion, the Hon MCE shares her experience of having been in a wheelchair just as some find themselves in now. She has also been in supporting crutches and has been taken care of just as some are being taken care of now. She emphasised with sentiments that having gone through their situation won't even enable her conscience to rob them of their rights. This sentiments she shared on the backdrop of some wicked persons who hid behind one of them (a disable) to peddle falsehood against her that last year's items were shared among her families and friends.
The Hon MCE passionately appealed to them to put whatever given them into judicious use to serve the purpose it is intended for to better their standard of living. She also appeal to those receiving educational support to put in all efforts to break the barriers of disabilities to climb the educational ladder as high as possible.
Hon Mrs Margaret Darko Darkwa assured that NPP Government under the able leadership of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo is committed to enhance the living standards of PLWD.
Items distributed include; chest deep freezers, large standing oven, shaving machines, napsack spraying machine, cutlasses, wireless speakers and it's accessories, monies for educational and medical purposes, and many more. All these items according to the social welfare director of the Municipality were requested by the beneficiaries.
The beneficiaries in turns as they received their items thanked His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo for considering their situation and putting out supportive measures to lessen their predicaments. They thanked the Hon MCE and the Assembly for the strategic transparency in the disbursement of the fund. They admit that this new method of disbursement is far better to show openness and involvement of beneficiaries.
